河北医科大学建于1894年，是当代中国最早的大学。在这所学校举行过中国最早的篮球比赛，创办了中国第一个医学杂志《壬申医学》，编著了中国第一部《人体系统解剖学》，实施了中国第一例断指再植手术，在世界上首先发现了急性运动性轴索型神经病，等等。

    河北医科大学现有中医学、临床医学、公共卫生学、口腔医学、药学、生物学等学科，本科专业14个，本硕连读专业2个，硕士学位授权点56个，博士学位授权点16个。在生物学、基础医学、临床医学、中西医结合4个学科设有博士后科研流动站，中西医结合为国家重点学科，在校生约2万人。

    河北医科大学有教授级学者863人，副教授级学者1350人。其中，中国工程院院士1人，院士后备人选2名，享受国务院特殊津贴的专家112人。

    河北医科大学有医院6所，其中四所医院为“三级甲等医院”，开设病床4500张，另有16所附属医院，60余所教学医院和实习基地。学校有图书馆8个，省级研究院所8个，编辑出版了9种学术刊物。
河北医科大学与英国、日本等国家有上百年的交流历史，目前，与几十个国家有友好往来，在校本科、硕士和博士外国留学生400余人，并建有国际科技合作基地。
    河北医科大学位于河北省省会石家庄市。河北省东环渤海，西依太行山，中绕北京和天津两大直辖市，地理位置优越。属于温带大陆性气候，四季分明，气候宜人，名胜古迹众多。例如：万里长城、赵州石拱桥、沧州铁狮子等。

   Hebei Medical University, was established in 1894, is one of the oldest universities in China.
   In this university there held the first basketball match of China, established the first medical journal "Renshen Medicine", edited the first “anatomy of human body system”, took the first implementation of finger replantation surgery in China, and firstly discovered the acute motor axonal neuropathy in the world. The university covers such main subjects as Traditional Chinese Medicine, Clinic Medicine, Public Health Science, Stomatology, Pharmaceutics and Biology. There are 14 majors of undergraduate, 2 majors of joint undergraduate and postgraduate, 56 majors of postgraduate, 16 majors of doctorate., and four main subjects have been built for
post-doctorate research mobiles, including Biology, Basic Medicine, Clinic Medicine and Integration of Traditional Chinese Medicine & Western Medicine. And the last one is the national-level subject. The current enrollment is about 20,000 . The faculty is made up of 863 professors, 1350 associate professors. Among them, there are 1 academician of China National Engineering Research Institute, 2 candidates of the Institute and 112 experts who
can enjoy the State Council Special Pay. Hebei Medical University owns 6 hospitals, 4 of them are provincial-level ones. And there are more than 4500 sickbeds in them. In addition, there are other 16 secondary hospitals, 60 teaching hospitals and internship bases, 8 libraries, 8 provincial research institutes and 9 kinds of academic publications edited and published by the university. Hebei Medical University has a long exchanging history with UK, Japan and others for more than one hundred years. And now it co-operates with dozens of countries. At present there are about 400 foreign students study at the university. And the International Technology Cooperation Base
had already been built in it. Hebei Medical University locates in Shijiazhuang, the capital city of Hebei Province. The location of Hebei Province is suporior to others, for the province is around Beijing and Tianjin, one is the capital of China and the other is one of the largest cities in China. And the climate is much comfortable. There are many scenic spots and historical sites in Hebei Province including The Great Wall, Zhaozhou Bridge and the iron lion in Cangzhou. Hebei Province has a rich medical history, and she is the birthplace of medicine. Many famous Chinese doctors lived in ancient Hebei, including Qin Yueren(Bian Que), the founder of traditional Chinese medicine, Liu Wansu, Li Gao, Zhang Yuansu ,Wang Haogu, Wang Qingren, Zhang Xichun and many others. Shijiazhuang is an old city. The earliest ironware, wineware and chinaware in the world were made in this city. And in China, Shijiazhuang is the unique large city where people communicate with each other in standard Mandarin.
